Back in January a friend of mine introduced me to art journaling. A way to express yourself through art adding as much or as little real journaling as you like and you can use any art medium you like. I have to say it has calmed my soul. I have been feeling very little creativity for a while now and didn't know what I could do to get myself out of that slump. Doing this makes me feel so happy. And the fact that I am creating something is very satisfying. So I've been on a roll and I wanted to share what I have done.
I think I will post more as I go along. It's fun to share too.

September Birthdays
Sometimes having two of my kids birthdays back to back can be challenging...I ask myself do I combine? Do I make two cakes? I never know.
This year I baked two 9 inch round cakes and each kid got one. They then got to pick what they wanted.
Garrett said goomba...so that's what he got. Thank goodness for the internet and all the images out there.
Here he is opening presents.
silly face
We then celebrated Kaylie's birthday the next night. At first she wanted a pizza cake but when I told her we would have to use lots of white frosting she came up with this monster saying "white icing is disgusting!"
Kaylie added a tongue to the monster. Thats what the chocolate frosting coming out of its mouth is.
Both kiddo's enjoyed there own night. I won't be eating cake for a while though.

New School Year 2013-2014
It has been a while. But with a new school year beginning and all the change in our lives I thought I should give this old blog another try. :)
The kiddo's have been back in school for almost a month now but here were first day of school pictures.
Ean starts 3rd grade
Garrett starts Kindergarten
Kaylie starts 7th grade
It amazes me that my oldest is now in middle school. So far the kid have enjoyed there new schools and I have enjoyed having a routine back in place. Time keeps moving forward!

Greek Festival (Oct 2012)
At school, Kaylie had a unit in all things Greek. They split into for groups to research for different cities of ancient Greece. Sparta, Athens, and Argos. Kaylie's group was Corinth.
They presented there information and ended with a group cheer:
We are fast, we are strong
We build buildings all day long
We will fight, we will win
We will kick you in the shin
We won't stop, making pots
We are Corinth! We are Corinth! We are Corinth!
Word.
Kaylie also put together a power point presentation for her group. They did well.
After the presentations four short plays were done. Kaylie played Athena in "Athena and Arachne"
It is always great seeing all that they are learning.

The Last Soccer Game (10-12-12)
In early Oct. Ean had his last Soccer game of the session. It was windy and there was a good chill in the air. But Ean was ready to play. In the first quarter of the game Ean was able to score the Soccer Star's first goal. He was so excited. It was a fun game to finish with.
They won 6-1. He really has loved playing soccer. We will be doing it again soon.
Standing with his participation troph.
